When activated, Twitch No Cancerino removes all emoticons and hides cancer messages, except from subscribers. Additionally, it checks chat messages from regular Twitch users for signs of bad quality posting, such as repeated words, excessive capital letters, and an abundance of emotes. These low-quality messages are then displayed with partially transparent text, making it easier for users to identify and ignore them.
